OF THE CLAY is a San Francisco-based clothing brand that explores the balance between art and everyday fashion, inspired by the craft of textile design and the living experience of the garment. Concepts will accumulate in a process of assemblage, building to a collection organically and not tied to a time or a season, apropos to the sunny winters and foggy summers of Northern California.
OF THE CLAY launched in 2019 with the first concept named Hunch after the word California Hard Edge painter Frederick Hammersley used to describe his artistic process. Comprised of a small batch of shirts, the Hunch concept reimagines the classic fabrics of flannel and chambray through bold, geometric patterns woven on antique jacquard looms.
OF THE CLAY is proudly made in San Francisco.
